What is play4.you?
play4.you is an open-source app for watching videos and reading books, newspapers and magazines. You can start anything for free, then pay the creator a few cents to continue. There is no subscription.
Is play4.you the same as Play4?
No. play4.you (https://play4.you) is not the Belgian TV channel Play4, not the Play4 gift-card app, and not 4Play betting. It is an independent platform for paying creators per video, book or article.
How much does it cost?
Starting anything is free. To continue past the free opening you pay the price the creator set for that one piece — usually a few cents for a video or an article, a few dollars for a book. You pay once for that piece; there is no subscription and nothing to cancel.
How do I pay?
Payments are in USDC, a stablecoin worth one US dollar. Sign in with your email and a wallet is created for you inside the browser — you do not need MetaMask or any other app, and you never leave the page.
Do I need an account to start watching or reading?
No. You can browse and start any video, book or article without signing in. You only sign in when you decide to pay for the rest of something.
How much of each work is free?
The opening of everything: the first part of every video, the first tenth of an article, and the first pages of a book. Very short videos are free in full, and creators can make anything free.
How do creators get paid?
Creators upload a video or publish a book or article, and set its price. When someone pays to continue, the payment goes to the creator in USDC.
What devices does it work on?
Any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer, including iPhone Safari and Android Chrome. On a phone you can add it to your home screen and use it like an app.
